Cemeteries aren't all that scary...

Taken January 9, 2012
Highway 58 between Raytown and P Hill

The tree makes it seem scarier.

Love the rusty old gate.

Everybody's working for the weekend...

I know I sure was ready for it!! Okay, I have my pictures of the day in this one blog. But, I guarantee it will be worth the wait once you see what I have (IMHO).

A farm right of Highway 7 heading into Pleasant Hill from Lee's Summit. I love how the trees cover the driveway. I plan on taking a picture of this again in the Spring, Summer and then Fall. Also, when we get snow - but I would be okay without the snow.

January 7th, 2012 - Independence Events Center (IEC)
The Missouri Mavericks vs. Quad City Mallards

Some say hockey is life. I wouldn't go that far, but I can tell you it's a blast having glass side seats. This was the first fight of the night. A 5'6 Maverick taking on a 6'2 Mallard and I can say that the little guy really whooped up on him.
I have always loved to watch ice skating. Gordeeva and Grinkov were my favorite of all but then I started to watch hockey and what a fun time to actually be there. I like the St Louis Blues and the Washington Capitols from the NHL. If you ever get a chance to go watch the Mavs do it, you won't be sorry.

Backyard
Living out in the country (well edge of town) really has it's advantages. The stars are brighter, the air is fresher and the moon seems as if you can see "the man." Thought this was a cool shot from the back deck. Hope everyone agrees.

Thursday, January 5th

Today was such a beautiful day outside. It was 64 degrees. Although I am sure cold weather is still ahead, it was nice to see a short reminder of our Spring season that is just around the corner. So on my way home, I noticed that there were several golfers on the golf course and instantly knew what my picture of the day was going to be.

Golf Course on Country Club Road
Pleasant Hill, Mo.

It's a 9 hole golf course and just down the road from our house. This is hole number 9. Can't wait for Spring to come so Robyn and I can get our golf clubs out of the garage and hit some balls... but for now, that fun will have to wait. They are calling for cold temperatures in just a few days. But for today, it was just beautiful out.

Dusk

Taken January 4, 2012 on (well) the corner of Mulberry Street and Country Club close to my house. I thought it was cool how the sun was reflecting off the stop sign.

Picture of the Day - 3

"Sky on Fire" - January 3, 2011

The sunsets have always been amazing in the Midwest but today's was awesome. It looked like the sky was on fire. We used to have a neighbor (Mr. Zeller) who would take a picture of the Kansas sunset every day and then send the pictures to his daughter who would then paint them. For some reason, tonight's sunset reminded me of him.

Day 2 Picture - Zachariah

Taken Jan 2, 2012

Today's picture is of my dog Zachariah. Also, known as Zach, Zachy, and Pro-Zach. Yeah, he is a dog that likes to chatter a lot... but is the sweetest thing ever. He will be 12 years old on September4th. He is part American Eskimo and Golden Retriever. He, too, has some New Year's resolutions that he would like to share.

1. Bark less, sit more.
2. Beg less and eat his own food without complaint.
3. Understand that no means no.
4. Stay as sweet as always (cuz I get treats being sweet).
5. Always share with Buddy (the Beagle).

2012 - New Year, New Dreams

From a very young age, I always wanted to be a photographer. I got the love of the camera from my mom. I think it was that she got too busy at family events so she would give me the camera and I would be the "official photographer" whereever we went.

Anyway, I love taking pictures. I love going back and re-living my life through pictures. Some say I take too many, I say I don't take enough.

For 2012, my goal is take pictures every day. They may be family events, hockey games, vacation pics, or just random shots that I have taken. But for each day of the year, I plan on taking and blogging at least one picture daily. Too extreme of a goal? Maybe. Can I handle it? You bet.

My sister once gave me a Life photo magazine and signed it that she hoped one of my pictures would be in it one day. I still have that goal. I would love to do landscape photography and sell them to travel magazines. I love to travel and that always gives me the opportunity to take pictures. I love to do pictures for family events and I love to see people smile and be happy. Pictures grab that happiness even if it is just for the camera.

So if you see me and I have my camera...go ahead and smile...
