Two friends just coloring...

Monday, January 30, 2012
Maggie and Mik coloring and having fun. Maggie's best friend is moving to Utah next week and she won't see her for awhile. So it's cool to see them just hanging out and having fun with the simple things, like a coloring book and crayons.

Catching up from weekend...

Friday, January 27, 2012

Very cool shot from the window of the Medical Office Building at KU Hospital. It's the KC skyline...well as much as you can see through the rain and mist.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie -

Thursday, January 27th, 2012
Especially when it's my boy Zachariah. You see, Zach (aka Zachie, My Boy, Pro-Zach) is a talker...sometimes it's okay when there is an intruder in the house but since we haven't had one of those, it can just be annoying.
So when he naps, it is so much quieter in the house. He has even taught Buddy the Beagle to be more vocal. But, I do love those 2 boys, so very much!!! :)

If you have not eaten at a Corner Cafe, drive as fast as you can. They have THE best food. Robyn and I always either eat here before or after a Hockey game (yep had to get the hockey in there!)

Just what season is it??

Have we had a mild winter or what?? We have only had one day where the streets were slick enough that I was actually late for work. Pretty dang good considering all the snow/ice we had last year. Monday was so pretty out.

Monday, January 23, 2012

We had a grey sky which looked like it could snow at anytime, trees that looked like a bit of fall, early spring and a pool just beckoning to be opened for the heat of the summer. It's weird but I will take it!

Robyn's homemade pizza...She was so dang proud of this that she asked me to make it my picture of the day. How could I refuse her?? And, yes, it was good!

It's Friday...Friday...Friday

Friday, January 20, 2012
Two very cool older vehicles (one with my favorite color purple and one with Robyn's favorite color of green). I drive by them every day on way to and from work. They are located right off of Metcalf Ave. I so want that purple truck!!!

You get another "Bonus Jonas" (see the earlier post on January 11th if you don't know what that means) today.
I thought it was so cool how the geese were just swimming in a row around the little island. This is off of Metcalf Ave. as well.

Just another Saturday

There is a cemetery in Pleasant Hill. It's a bit in town but not all the way. The entrance is very cool (well, I think so anyway). So my pictures of the day consist of the entrance.

January 14, 2012

The back side of the entrance. You can tell it's a windy day with all the flags waving.

One of the memorials inside the cemetery and below the flag says, "All Gave Some, Some Gave All."

TGIF

Once again, the picture came to me. I was driving on Metcalf Ave a few blocks away from I-435 and saw that the fountain at Vince and Associates Clinical Research had frozen over. The only water running was at the very very top. I didn't notice the 2 shadows in the picture (one being me) and the one that runs down the middle of the picture. Robyn picked this picture out of all the ones I took. She said that the shadow looked like a cross and thought it looked really cool. So, I took her advice and will use this one as my photo of today.

I should have added a picture of the temperature at the bank across the street with this picture. It was 0 degrees. Don't let the blue sky fool ya!

Baby, it's cold outside...

Well winter is finally here. We got less than 1/2 inch of snow but it was mostly cold and very very (very) windy. It was so cold the dogs refused to go outside. We had to push them out to do their business.

Snow falling on the deck
Evening of January 11, 2012
(Bonus photo of the day or as I like to call it "Bonus Jonas" - you know since the Jonas Brothers have a 4th brother, they call him Bonus Jonas...well anyway- I get it)

I was hoping we would get more snow and less cold so I could take some actual winter pictures. As I was driving home tonight, I just couldn't find a good enough place where there was a lot of snow so I just kept driving. When I got to town, I stopped by the pharmacy to get a Rx and then proceeded to go home. I drove a block and all of a sudden saw this...

Sunset - or a Ball of Fire
January 12, 2012

It was so awesome. It looked the sun just exploded. And it came out of nowhere. Sometimes pictures just fall in my lap and other times I have to seek them out. Either way, I am happy as long as I can take pictures.

Reminds me of my grandparent's house...

The picture I took today is just down the road from our house. I had originally taken a picture of an old house but then noticed the fence just like my grandparent's had. The secret to not getting hurt around this fence is to just stay away from it. Ha!

Down the road from Mulberry Street

Uhhhh...yeah, I trespassed...

Always take the side roads...

Growing up, we never took the main interstate when we went on trips. We always took the side roads. You get to see so much more when you do that. Yesterday, I decided to take a side road off of I-50. I knew that I wouldn't be able to go too far because sometimes I do get lost...but about a mile and half down the road, I saw my picture of the day. Due to leaving my camera at home, I had to depend on my cell phone. It didn't turn out that good but I found the shot very interesting. Hope you all do too!

 January 10, 2012

This is the Church of Christ south of I-50 on Smart Road outside of Lee's Summit, Mo... I love how the shadows on the tree looks like a hand with several fingers. I love the shape of the building too. Very interesting.

Cemeteries aren't all that scary...

Taken January 9, 2012
Highway 58 between Raytown and P Hill

The tree makes it seem scarier.

Love the rusty old gate.

Everybody's working for the weekend...

I know I sure was ready for it!! Okay, I have my pictures of the day in this one blog. But, I guarantee it will be worth the wait once you see what I have (IMHO).

Friday, January 6th, 2012
A farm right of Highway 7 heading into Pleasant Hill from Lee's Summit. I love how the trees cover the driveway. I plan on taking a picture of this again in the Spring, Summer and then Fall. Also, when we get snow - but I would be okay without the snow.

January 7th, 2012 - Independence Events Center (IEC)
The Missouri Mavericks vs. Quad City Mallards

Some say hockey is life. I wouldn't go that far, but I can tell you it's a blast having glass side seats. This was the first fight of the night. A 5'6 Maverick taking on a 6'2 Mallard and I can say that the little guy really whooped up on him.
I have always loved to watch ice skating. Gordeeva and Grinkov were my favorite of all but then I started to watch hockey and what a fun time to actually be there. I like the St Louis Blues and the Washington Capitols from the NHL. If you ever get a chance to go watch the Mavs do it, you won't be sorry.

Backyard
Living out in the country (well edge of town) really has it's advantages. The stars are brighter, the air is fresher and the moon seems as if you can see "the man." Thought this was a cool shot from the back deck. Hope everyone agrees.

Thursday, January 5th

Today was such a beautiful day outside. It was 64 degrees. Although I am sure cold weather is still ahead, it was nice to see a short reminder of our Spring season that is just around the corner. So on my way home, I noticed that there were several golfers on the golf course and instantly knew what my picture of the day was going to be.

Golf Course on Country Club Road
Pleasant Hill, Mo.

It's a 9 hole golf course and just down the road from our house. This is hole number 9. Can't wait for Spring to come so Robyn and I can get our golf clubs out of the garage and hit some balls... but for now, that fun will have to wait. They are calling for cold temperatures in just a few days. But for today, it was just beautiful out.

Dusk

Taken January 4, 2012 on (well) the corner of Mulberry Street and Country Club close to my house. I thought it was cool how the sun was reflecting off the stop sign.

Picture of the Day - 3

"Sky on Fire" - January 3, 2011

The sunsets have always been amazing in the Midwest but today's was awesome. It looked like the sky was on fire. We used to have a neighbor (Mr. Zeller) who would take a picture of the Kansas sunset every day and then send the pictures to his daughter who would then paint them. For some reason, tonight's sunset reminded me of him.

Day 2 Picture - Zachariah

Taken Jan 2, 2012

Today's picture is of my dog Zachariah. Also, known as Zach, Zachy, and Pro-Zach. Yeah, he is a dog that likes to chatter a lot... but is the sweetest thing ever. He will be 12 years old on September4th. He is part American Eskimo and Golden Retriever. He, too, has some New Year's resolutions that he would like to share.

1. Bark less, sit more.
2. Beg less and eat his own food without complaint.
3. Understand that no means no.
4. Stay as sweet as always (cuz I get treats being sweet).
5. Always share with Buddy (the Beagle).

2012 - New Year, New Dreams

From a very young age, I always wanted to be a photographer. I got the love of the camera from my mom. I think it was that she got too busy at family events so she would give me the camera and I would be the "official photographer" whereever we went.

Anyway, I love taking pictures. I love going back and re-living my life through pictures. Some say I take too many, I say I don't take enough.

For 2012, my goal is take pictures every day. They may be family events, hockey games, vacation pics, or just random shots that I have taken. But for each day of the year, I plan on taking and blogging at least one picture daily. Too extreme of a goal? Maybe. Can I handle it? You bet.

My sister once gave me a Life photo magazine and signed it that she hoped one of my pictures would be in it one day. I still have that goal. I would love to do landscape photography and sell them to travel magazines. I love to travel and that always gives me the opportunity to take pictures. I love to do pictures for family events and I love to see people smile and be happy. Pictures grab that happiness even if it is just for the camera.

So if you see me and I have my camera...go ahead and smile...
